Electrolysis targets each hair follicle individually, allowing for precise and permanent hair removal. This procedure uses high-frequency current to generate localized heat directly in the hair follicle. Using an extremely fine, sterile needle, this thermal energy is applied to the hair root, causing irreversible destruction of the follicle. During the treatment, controlled microcoagulation occurs within the hair follicle, preventing regrowth. Once treated, the hair slides smoothly out of the follicle and is easily removed with tweezers, without needing to be pulled out. Slight redness may appear in the treated area after the session, which usually disappears within an hour. This safe and precise process makes electrolysis the only technique that allows for permanent hair removal.

Electrolysis has been around for over 150 years. It was developed in 1875 by Dr. Charles Michel, an American ophthalmologist, who first used it to treat ingrown eyelashes. The number of electrolysis sessions depends on several individual factors: the amount of hair, its thickness, the area to be treated, hormonal balance, and the hair removal methods used previously.

On average, to achieve complete hair removal in a specific area, approximately 10 complete and consecutive sessions.

What is this about?
In each session, we can only treat the hairs that are visible on the surface. Many others are in the resting phase and will appear gradually over time.

For this reason, more frequent appointments are recommended at the beginning. As the number of active follicles decreases, the sessions can be spaced out until completely hair-free skin is achieved. The first sessions are usually longer, while the later ones may only last a few minutes.

It is not necessary to complete the entire treatment of an area in a single session. If the area requires more time, the procedure can be divided into several more convenient sessions.

For example, for the treatment of facial areas, a duration of 30 to 60 minutes per session.

The work is charged by time (minutes or hours), and the speed of the results will depend on both the frequency of the sessions and the time spent on each visit.

In the end, many people come to the same conclusion: it's better to dedicate 6 to 24 months to a definitive treatment and forget about hair forever, rather than continuing to struggle with it throughout your life.

STEP 1

Grow out the hair

To start, you need to grow your hair to a length of approximately 3 to 5 mm. This is the ideal length for comfortable work.

STEP 2

Exfoliate your skin

Use an exfoliant to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. This will also help during treatment, as the follicle will be more visible and accessible.

STEP 3

Avoid pain

Purchase a lidocaine cream (sold over the counter) from the pharmacy in advance and apply it to your skin 1–2 hours before the treatment, covering it tightly with plastic wrap to allow it to take effect. Make sure you eat something before applying the cream so you feel comfortable during the session.

STEP 4

Distract yourself

During the procedure, you probably won't be able to fully relax, so you can distract yourself by, for example, watching a video on your phone.

STEP 5

Aftercare

For the first two days, clean the treated area twice a day with chlorhexidine to prevent infection. Apply a cream containing panthenol to soothe and regenerate the skin. Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen (high SPF) to prevent pigmentation.
